Frieda Schenefeld

Funeral services for Frieda Margaret Schenefeld, 96, were held Friday, Nov. 1, at the St. Paulís Lutheran Church in Ogilvie with the Rev. James Hesse officiating.

Pallbearers were Jim Lewandowski, Jim Litfin, Darrell Mollet, Darwin Ryg, Melvin Swanson and Carl Zieman. Organist was Karen Kirschner. Honorary pallbearers were members of the church quilting group. Burial was in the Borgholm Cemetery.
Arrangements were by the Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca.

Frieda died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002 at her home in Hayland Township, Mille Lacs County, Minn.
She was born on Oct. 22, 1906 to James and Hattie (Wollschlager) Jensen in Burke, S.D. She attended country school near her home and then received her normal training. The family moved to Oregon for a short time and came back to South Dakota. Friedaís dad died while she was a baby and her mother married James Evans. Frieda taught school in the Burke area for a few years. Frieda married Albert Schenefeld in September of 1937. The family came to Minnesota in 1937 and in March of 1941 they moved to the Milaca area. Frieda taught school in the Milaca area for several years. The couple farmed in Hayland Township until retirement in 1976.
Frieda enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening and hunting season.

She is survived by son, Elvin "Bud" Schenefeld and wife Jan of Milaca; daughter, Alice Lawrence and husband Ed of Wellington, Colo.; two sisters, Miss Esther G. Evans of Petersburg, Alaska and Ruth Peterson of Burke, S.D.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, husband, brother and a sister.
