Santa in town, tree to be lit

"You better watch out, you better not cry, you better not shout, Iím telling you why... Santa Claus is coming to town!"

Along with many other events taking place in Milaca over the next few weeks to celebrate the holidays, beginning with the annual Breakfast with Santa at Barbara Jeanís Embers in Milaca on Friday, Nov. 29.

Children can have French toast, sausage and juice with jolly olí St. Nick from 9 a.m. - 10 a.m. Gifts and candy from Santa are sponsored by Milaca Floral & Gifts, while door prizes are sponsored by First National Bank of Milaca.

Shortly after Santa fills his belly, heíll be catching a ride on a shiny, red fire truck. He and his elf will be arriving at the Santa House at 10:15 a.m.

Bring your camera and your wishes to the Santa House from 10:30 a.m. until noon on Friday, Nov. 29.

That evening, Santa will return to his house in downtown Milaca, where a bonfire and wiener and marshmallow roast will be held. Sponsored by Olsons SuperValu, the goodies will be available from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.

At 6 p.m., the lighting of the community Christmas tree at the picket fence will take place.

Lightbulbs can be purchased for $5. As they are purchased, the lightbulbs will be turned on and the name of the person who purchased the bulb will be placed on a banner at the picket fence.

All proceeds from the bulbs will be given to the Milaca Scholarship Foundation.

A horse drawn trolley ride and sing-along will take place at the Santa House as well that evening, from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. , but the temperature must be above zero degrees. Fairview Northland Pharmacy, Dr. Bye and Dr. Molacek, Town and Country Finance and Jimís Mille Lacs Disposal are sponsoring the trolley ride.

On Friday, Dec. 6, Santa will return to Milaca. Children can have their pictures taken with St. Nick at First National Bank of Milaca from 4:30 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Photos taken by Rum River Studio, courtesy of the Milaca Area Chamber of Commerce, can be picked up at the Mille Lacs County Times office after Monday, Dec. 16.

On Saturday, Dec. 7 the childrenís movie "Snow Days" will be presented at the Milaca Theatre from 9 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. The free movie is sponsored by the theatre and the Milaca Area Chamber of Commerce.

Santa Claus will make one last stop in Milaca on Saturday, Dec. 14 at the Santa House from 10 a.m. until noon.

Donations for the hat and mitten tree can be made at Bremer Bank, First National Bank of Milaca and the Greater Minnesota Credit Union.
